Mixtuur builds organs in Zevenbergen: instruments assembled entirely to customer order, with a dealer network reaching well beyond the Netherlands. Twelve employees, an assembly process with thousands of parts, and instruments that need service for decades after delivery.
The challenge
The company ran on ageing industry software that no longer kept up. Every organ order is different: stops, keyboards, finish and options vary per customer, and those choices have to carry through consistently from quotation via bill of materials to serial number. On top of that, five people work fully in the system while seven colleagues mainly log hours and check the warehouse. The wish: one system that handles all of it, live before 1 September.
The approach
The kickstart method: a fit-gap per process, then the core processes in steps. Sales, inventory, manufacturing, projects and timesheets, accounting and service (field service and helpdesk) were set up, master data came in through a structured import, and inventory got FIFO valuation and logical locations. The distinctive piece is the CPQ Builder: dealers and customers compose an organ in a configurator with a 3D view, with exclusion rules, recommended options and an explanation per choice. Every configuration instantly becomes a quotation with the right order lines. And through augmented reality you place the configured organ live in your own room on your phone, so you see how the instrument fits the space before anything is built. A dealer portal and serial number registration all the way to the end customer close the loop.
The result
Mixtuur is live. An order starts as a configuration, becomes a manufacturing order with the right bill of materials, and the instrument leaves the building with a serial number that still tells you years later exactly what was built - valuable for service and maintenance. Development continues: e-commerce and email marketing are on the agenda, and support is structurally covered with Odoo Heartbeat. This is what the step from industry software to a living system should look like.
