Odoo vs Ridder iQ.
Manufacturing ERP, or business platform?
Ridder iQ (by ECI Software Solutions) is a strong ERP for custom, order-driven manufacturers - machine building, special-purpose and equipment building, metal, welding and construction, sheet metal, project-based production and service. It runs deep on engineering, costing, production, planning and service, which makes it a more serious Odoo competitor than generic tools like Teamleader or Zoho. Odoo gets stronger the moment you want to do more than run production: connect the whole company - CRM, sales, eCommerce, customer portal, service, full accounting, data and automation. There is little independent public review data on Ridder iQ, so this is a functional comparison, not a review score. In one line: Ridder iQ helps you control your manufacturing process. Odoo helps you connect your entire company.

Five questions that decide it
Industry focus: this is where Ridder iQ wins fair and square
Odoo has Manufacturing (MRP), Inventory, Purchase, Quality and Maintenance on one data model. Strong for order-driven production, but you pay for breadth, not for the industry-specific costing and work-preparation rituals a custom manufacturer is used to.
Ridder iQ is built for order-driven manufacturers: quote and costing, engineering, bills of materials, purchasing, work preparation, planning, production orders, project control, hours, material usage and service orders. It speaks the language of engineer-to-order, make-to-order and configure-to-order shops.
For pure custom production with deep work preparation, do not underestimate Ridder iQ. The question is whether production is the only thing you want to modernise.
Engineering, PLM and costing: from design to production
Odoo covers PLM, Manufacturing, Inventory and Purchase, but the design-to-production bridge for complex machine building needs serious, deliberate configuration - not a switch you flip.
CAD, CAM and PDM/PLM systems integrate with Ridder iQ so you avoid duplicate bills of materials and the system can calculate cost prices. For engineer-to-order, the step from design to production is the hardest, and Ridder iQ is built around it. Detailed pre- and post-calculation gives grip on margin per project and per order.
For engineering-heavy, project-based production where every order is different, Ridder iQ has a real head start.
CRM, eCommerce and customer portal: the heart or the edge?
CRM, Sales, Website, Marketing and eCommerce sit in the same stack as ERP: leads, campaigns, pipeline, website forms, quote follow-up and marketing automation, plus a native B2B portal for order status, spare parts, service requests, documentation and certificates - all on the same data model as Sales, Inventory and Accounting.
Ridder iQ is broad within manufacturing, but the edges - everything outside production - are not its natural core. CRM is present but order/project-oriented, and eCommerce or a customer portal typically run through integrations.
When sales, online ordering and a customer portal matter as much as the shop floor, Odoo is better positioned as a platform.
Service as a revenue model, not an afterthought
Helpdesk, Field Service, Repair, Subscriptions and Portal in one platform, tied to installed base, contracts and invoicing. For machine builders, the earnings often really start after delivery.
Service and maintenance are explicitly part of Ridder iQ's target group, so the core service process is covered. The broader flow - customer portal, spare-parts ordering, contract-driven recurring revenue - leans on the surrounding platform.
If aftersales is becoming its own business, weigh how much of that service flow sits inside the platform versus bolted onto it.
Full accounting: one ledger or a linked administration?
This is one of the clearest differences. Odoo has complete accounting built in - general ledger, bank feeds and reconciliation, VAT and localisation, receivables/payables and reporting - on the same ledger as sales, purchasing, inventory and production.
Ridder iQ handles invoicing and feeds the financial administration, but full bookkeeping in practice often runs in a separate, linked accounting package. We regularly hear that companies eventually move their accounting into a dedicated package - a signal, not a verdict, that we have not independently measured, so test it against your own situation.
One ledger instead of a linked administration saves reconciliation, double entry and coordination - and that gap grows as finance gets more demanding.
Which one fits?
Choose Odoo if…
- You want to connect the whole company, not only control production.
- CRM and marketing have to count commercially - pipeline, campaigns, follow-up.

- Service and aftersales are becoming a revenue model: helpdesk, field service, contracts and repairs.
- You want finance, sales, inventory, production and service on one general ledger.
- You want to add new processes quickly, without a specialist ERP consultant for every step.
- A modern browser-first experience and open data, API and AI matter to you.
Choose Ridder iQ if…
- You produce to customer order in machine building, special-purpose or equipment building.
- Engineering and CAD/PDM/PLM integration are crucial to you.
- Project-based production with detailed pre- and post-calculation is your core.
- Production planning and capacity scheduling are front and centre.
- Service and maintenance on your machines is a key process.
- You have little need for eCommerce, marketing or broad customer portals.

Production strong - and the rest of your company?
Plenty of manufacturers rightly choose a specialised ERP. It only gets interesting once sales, customer portal, service, finance and data weigh as much as production itself. Book a Quickscan where we put your engineering, costing, production, planning, CRM, customer portal and finance side by side against both Ridder iQ and Odoo. No pitch to pull you off Ridder iQ - just an honest conversation about whether a broader business platform pays back within three years.
