All customer casesExact - in its Exact Online and Exact Globe variants - is the foundation under accounting at many Dutch SMBs. It works fine as long as the business is primarily an administrative process. But when manufacturing, project planning, serious e-commerce or more complex inventory work comes into play, Exact starts to feel cramped.
Clients who migrate to Odoo usually do not do so because Exact does not work for accounting - it does - but because they want one system for what they are currently doing in three or four separate tools. Sales in a separate CRM, inventory in Excel, manufacturing in a niche tool, all alongside Exact. Odoo ties that together.
An Exact-to-Odoo migration runs more smoothly than you might think. Data export from Exact is well supported, and the Dutch accounting conventions (VAT, RGS, SBR) are now production-ready in Odoo. We migrate open positions, general ledger, VAT codes and historical invoices via a tested playbook.

Is Odoo as compliant for Dutch accounting as Exact?
Now yes. The Odoo Accounting module for the Netherlands has been production-ready since 2022, including RGS mapping, SBR reporting and the current VAT filing. Differences with Exact sit mostly in workflow, not in compliance.

How long does an Exact to Odoo switch take?
Focused on accounting + sales (a typical kickstart), expect 6-10 weeks. For full operational scope (manufacturing, inventory, projects added) 4-6 months. We usually split into phases so you do not switch everything at once.

What data can I bring across from Exact?
Relations (customers + suppliers), item master, open positions on receivables and payables, general ledger entries, historical sales and purchase invoices, stock positions. Exact Online exports reasonably cleanly; Exact Globe is more handwork.

Will my accountant be able to keep working on Odoo?
Yes. Odoo produces the same Dutch accounting reports as Exact (audit file, column balance, VAT return). Many accountant offices now have experience with Odoo, or we provide a brief introduction.

Can I switch in phases, or does it need to be all at once?
Phases work fine. Many clients go live with Odoo Sales + CRM first alongside Exact (Exact keeps doing accounting), then switch accounting in a second phase. That reduces risk and spreads cutover.
